About Mike Brumby
Mike Brumby is the founder of MikeWellness® MWBootCamp® and SAMSON'S Kitchen®. Mike’s passion for fitness, his commitment to his clients and his relentless energy are the driving forces behind his success. A graduate of Loughborough University with a degree in Physical Education, Sports Science and Recreational Management, Mike studied sports nutrition, exercise physiology and biomechanics. He has also gained extensive coaching experience in a wide variety of sports. The first year of university was also the first time Mike got involved in lifting weights and working out. Later, while still studying, he worked part-time as a personal trainer at the university gym for two years.
After he received his degree, he studied to be a teacher, going on to teach physical education for nine years in England, Indonesia and China. He offered personal training sessions for people in his spare time on the weekends and evenings when away from his full-time job as a teacher. During his time in Indonesia, he also set up an organization called Kids’ Fitness Academy in which he helped children improve their fitness through playing sports, swimming and having action-filled fun. In fact, Mike’s association with Indonesia goes back a long way, since his family moved to Jakarta when he was three, and he lived there until he graduated from Jakarta International School. After a time in England, studying and teaching, he returned to Jakarta to work in a small international school, followed by a similar experience in Shanghai, China, for two years. He has now relocated to Jakarta where he hopes to live and work for many years to come. It is here in Jakarta that he hopes to offer people the opportunity to join his MikeWellness®.
Mike has been working in the fitness industry since 2008. His formal education, coupled with a lifetime of sports - competitive and otherwise - allows Mike to provide sports-specific training, detailed body composition and fitness testing, weight loss and body sculpting programs, strength training, and muscle building programs. Mike is a certified Master Personal Training Specialist, Children’s Fitness Specialist, Sports Conditioning Specialist and Nutritionist through AFPA (American Fitness Professionals & Associates) and Precision Nutrition. Always looking to add to his training experience, he has also attended numerous conferences including the Bandung Fitness Conference held by Ade Rai. He is now in the process of becoming a Certified National Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS®).
A person who enjoys fitness activities of all kinds, Mike is an avid sports enthusiast. He is a serious cyclist, badminton player and fitness trainer. In order to better communicate with potential clients, Mike is already conversationally proficient in Indonesian, Chinese and Spanish. Mike also enjoys writing and has decided to use this interest to further promote fitness; in April 2012, he published his first children’s picture book entitled Alistair the Armadillo – Journey to the Stars, which is a story that gives a message to children of being healthy and fit in order to find happiness. His second book entitled Alistair the Armadillo - Gift of Color, is a story about giving back to the environment and was published in March 2014.
His goal as a wellness coach is to be the best and to provide the best possible programs to suit each of his clients. He truly enjoys helping people and it is really rewarding to him when those he has helped are able to see their improvements over time. He is 100% committed to helping his clients achieve their goals and he hopes to work with people who are as committed as he is.
